This little horse is a result of a mix of breeds of horses imported during the colonization of American territory. Before there were no horses in America before the arrival of the conquistadors. The Spanish explorers brought their horses and left them wild on the America ground when they return to Europe. With the arrival of English colonists in the eighteenth century, the first crossbreeds were made with near-thoroughbred horses (the pure blood was not yet officially). These crossbreeds between English stallions and Spanish mares produced outstanding results, generous horses, brave and intelligent, the quarter horse was born.
His physique is very characteristic: Small Horse of about 1.50 m, impressive muscular neck, broad and strong shoulders, broad chest, short back, powerful hindquarters, rounded croup, slender and elegant legs.
His character is also remarkable for his good tempered, bright, clever, close to men, willing at work all qualities that make him an ideal companion.
The name Quarter Horse was given in recognition of his ability to race on the mile. It is the fastest horse on the mile, a real sprinter.
